sketch-of-suspect-217x300A full week after a woman was sexually assaulted in the 900 Block of Hiawatha Place after riding a southbound #7 Metro bus – the most violent route in the city – Seattle Police Department (SPD) has finally asked for the public’s help in finding her alleged assailant:

On April 28,, shortly after 9pm, the suspect boarded the southbound Metro bus route #7 at 3rd Avenue and Pine Street. The female victim was also on the same bus. The victim got off the bus at Rainier Avenue South and South Charles Street.  The suspect followed the victim to the 900 Block of Hiawatha Place South and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his early 30’s, but could possibly be in his late 20’s.  He is described as 5’10-6’00 in height, with a medium build.  He has dirty blond hair and a beard.  He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, possibly dark green, and had a lanyard, with something plastic, possibly a bus pass, attached to it, around his neck.  The suspect was also carrying a large backpack with a bedroll or a sleeping bag attached to it.

If anyone has any information concerning this crime, or they believe they may have seen this suspect, they should contact the Seattle Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit at (206) 684-5575.

I ride the #7 and thought that they have video cameras in the bus to track people boarding the bus and departing the bus. Are there any video cameras in the area that may show more?

Support the City and SPD the next time they clean up the Jungle. Sounds/looks like the unsavory characters that inhabit that area.

The jungle is/was a huge problem – I’m not sure why the city can’t do more to address this issue. An out of the box solution might be to take the prisoners out of King County Jail and have them go in, pull the ivy, remove the stickers, remove the debris, and do the physical labor to turn that area into a safe, well maintained park.
