Two Shootings in Twice as Many Days; Mt. Baker Elementary School Locked Down

dunlapshootingLast Friday night at about 10:40pm, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 8400 block of Renton Avenue South at South Camano Place in the Dunlap neighborhood where they found four .32-caliber shell casings nearby. Read more.

Then, on Monday, just as school was letting out for the afternoon, neighbors reported hearing several shots fired from a black sedan at about 3:30pm in the 3400 36th Avenue South in Mt. Baker, just a quarter-mile from John Muir Elementary School.

mtbakershootingThe local Block Watch team says police responded, walked the block and found one shell casing.

Meanwhile, several parents of John Muir students expressed concern when they went to pick up their kids from school and found it unexplainably locked down.

You probably should revise the title, these were “shots fired”, not shootings. Luckily the shots didn’t hit anyone. If they did then it would be a shooting.

It’s unfortunate to read about our collective problem – the realities of people and their guns. On a side note: I wonder if the headline should read: Gun shots fired by two human beings over the span of just two days with their bullets intending to kill or maim other human beings in SE Seattle.

but if shots are fired isn’t someone in the act of shooting? Semantics. I am all for the right to bear firearms but anyone who bears them irresponsibly, and recklessly, should be severely punished. I don’t care if they were just discharging their firearm or if they were just shooting their firearm. Unless someone is being attacked their is no justification for their actions.
