This Traffic Circle Needs YOU

Are you registered for the first ever Rainier Valley day of service? The 2009 Bridge to Beach Makeover is coming up in just two short weeks and there are a whole lot of traffic circles out there – probably one on your own block – that could use a little TLC.

Just clear the trash, pull some weeds, plant some flowers, throw some water over the whole thing and call it good. Then come to a BIG, free community party in Othello Park from 3 to 6 pm.

But first you must register so our generous sponsors can be prepared to show you their undying gratitude with the correct amount of food, fun and entertainment at the Othello Park after party.

Contact Jennifer Duong to register TODAY!

Ugly traffic circle needs love, too. Photo/do communications, inc.

The 2009 Bridge to Beach Makeover is sponsored by the Rainier Chamber, the Rainier Valley Post, Seattle Neighborhood Group, HomeSight, Othello Park Alliance, Healthy and Active Rainier Valley Coalition, Public Health – Seattle & King County, SouthEast Effective Development (SEED), Southeast District Council, Othello Partners, PEPSI, Starbucks, Macpherson’s Fruit Stand, Department of Neighborhoods and City of Seattle.

Oh that is funny. That exact traffic circle is actually at the top of my list to take care of, and I just haven’t gotten around to registering. The process seems so formal!! Oh well, I’ll do it now, I promise.

That IS funny, tlp.

Registering for B2B Makeover is SO easy! Just go here: http://www.rainiervalleypost.com/?page_id=4758
and answer a few quick questions so we can offer help in the way of trash grabbers, safety vests, extra volunteers, etc. and so we have enough food at the after-party.

Thank you for your awesome service to our community!

Kudos to those who actually find the time to take care of these traffic circles — I applaud and appreciate your efforts! And I hope you have fun doing it!

My adopted traffic circle (pictured above) got gutted overnight… someone not only removed the trash, they ripped out the mature plants right along with the weeds. It’s a very sad site, especially since I’d arranged to have a Master Gardener come help me prune them back into shape.

What a bummer! Who would do such a thing? And WHY?!
