Since when is $100,000 plus not a good wage? In fact, it is important information -- last year, while we learned that SPD officers were some of the worst paid police based on cost of living, etc., we also learned that our City Council members are the third highest paid in the country. That's not important information? An obvious point for consideration is that we do not have individuals who are the best public servants, the most passionate, fair and just individuals in government, but those who can raise the money to run a campaign or in fact, have enough of their own to subsidize the cost.

Since the City Council does not pay a very good wage, it only makes sense that council members have some personal wealth. How else would they live in this city?

I'm wondering why this is news...are we supposed to be aghast at the money that our public officials have? I feel like - hey, they did well in business, more power to 'em, now they are serving their communities.

I'm jealous. Sure. Wish I had the cash. But I'm also a little uncomfortable that these folks personal investments are news just because they are now working for the city...

I must be missing something.
