Man Stabbed During Dispute Near Mt. Baker (seattlecrime.com):

One man was hospitalized last week after a man armed with a knife stabbed him as he was taking items out of his vehicle on a South Seattle street.

Around 6:30 pm on February 26th, the victim was getting a suitcase out of the trunk of his car, parked on Martin Luther King Jr Way S and S Hanford, when the suspect walked up to him and stabbed him in the shoulder, according to a police report.
The victim got a crowbar out of his trunk to defend himself, and the two men got into a fight. Read more.

Woman Robbed On Chief Sealth Trail (seattlecrime.com):

Police are investigating yet another robbery on the Chief Sealth trail on Beacon Hill.

On February 26th, a woman was on Beacon Ave S near S Dawson street, about to head down the trail, when a man approached her, and pushed her to the ground.

The man held the woman down, and then grabbed her purse and fled down the trail. Read more.

Seattle police: Music store operator caught with 2,800 pirated CDs, movies (seattlepi.com):

King County prosecutors have filed counterfeiting charges against a Renton man accused of amassing thousands of pirated movies and CDs.

In court documents, prosecutors contend Lamont D. O’Neal was selling the counterfeit items out of his Rainier Avenue South store, the “Muzik Shop,” until a private investigators working for the recording industry found he was selling illegally reproduced CDs and DVDs. According to charging documents, police suspect O’Neal was also selling counterfeits out of a van often parked across from Franklin High School. Read more.

A woman was robbed leaving the Othello Safeway at about 11:30 pm Thursday.

According to police, the victim and her boyfriend were leaving the grocery store at South Othello Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way when they were accosted by three suspects who demanded money, then grabbed her purse and ran:

The woman and her boyfriend gave chase while calling 911. Quickly responding officers managed to capture two of the fleeing suspects. The third suspect disappeared on foot. A K9 track was initiated with the King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One helicopter providing assistance.

The third suspect was finally arrested after a successful dog track led officers to his hiding place. The victim’s purse was recovered along the path of the pursuit and returned to her. All three suspects were arrested for Investigation of Robbery. Two of the suspects were booked into King County Jail and the third was booked into Youth Service Center.

Man admits guilt in attack on 81-year-old Rainier Valley woman (Seattle Times):

A man who authorities say beat an 81-year-old Rainier Valley woman and assaulted her two neighbors on July 30 pleaded guilty Wednesday to multiple criminal counts.

Solomon Xavier Thompson pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree assault, one count of first-degree burglary, two counts of fourth-degree assault and one count of custodial assault, prosecutors said. The last charge stemmed from a fight Thompson had with King County Jail staff after his arrest, prosecutors said.

Dan Donohoe, spokesman for King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg, said his office plans to ask for an exceptional sentence when Thompson returns to court to be sentenced on Jan. 14. Prosecutors say Thompson deserves a sentence of 12 years in prison because of his lengthy criminal history and the age of his victims. Read more.

Rainier Beach man stabbed in own home:

A 52-year old man was stabbed in his home last Friday night, and police are looking for two attackers.

It was about 8:30 pm when the suspects – who are known to the victim – were visiting his home in the 8100 block of 48th Avenue South in Rainier Beach when an argument ensued, and one of the suspects struck the victim on the face with a mason jar and then started stabbing him.

The suspects, both described as black males in their early 20′s, 5’10″, slender build and wearing hoodies, took off in a small, older white sedan with a black stripe down the side and remain at large.

Meanwhile, the victim staggered out the door and down the street to 50th Avenue South and South Rose Street, which is where Seattle Fire Department found him. He was subsequently transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police called the victim “less than cooperative” and several witnesses at the home to be “generally unhelpful”.

Woman robbed of cell phone near Othello Station:

A woman was walking home to New Holly from the Light Rail stop at MLK, Jr. Way and Othello when she was approached by three teen boys at 37th Avenue South and South Myrtle Street.

One of them asked if he could borrow her phone, and because she felt intimidated, she gave it to him and then promptly asked for it back.

Then one of the suspects asked her if she had any money, before they all ran away – one still carrying the phone.

According to police, the victim chased one of the suspects and grabbed his jacket, but he pushed her to the ground and ran away.

All three suspects remain at large.

A man was waiting for a bus in the 6200 Block of Rainier Avenue South near South Graham Street Tuesday night when he was assaulted and robbed at knife point.

South Precinct officers responded shortly after 11 pm, spoke to the victim and then located and detained at the suspect at 46th Avenue South and South Warsaw Street.

The victim positively identified the 27-year old suspect who was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.

The Slog has additional information on the muggings mentioned in this week’s 911 Log:

On March 16, two “medium” and “dark” complexioned men allegedly chased down and robbed a foreign exchange student in Columbia City, according to a police report. During the robbery, the men said they had a gun. The report notes a similar robbery taking place in the vicinity of 39 Avenue S and Rainier Avenue S, involving a man who matches Suspect 1’s description, who also claimed to have a gun, signifying that there is a possible pattern emerging.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 16, a foreign exchange student at Seattle Central Community College was walking eastbound on the 3900 block of South Edmunds Street when he crossed paths with the Suspect 1, who was walking westbound. After passing the student, S1 turned and began chasing him. The victim ran. Read more.

Disabled man attacked, robbed of $1 at notorious Rainier Beach bus stop (Seattle Times, RVP News Partner):

A disabled man who was waiting for a bus in South Seattle on Friday was attacked by three teens who slammed his head against a wall and punched him in the face and chest. According to a witness, one of the teens yelled, “That’s how we do it in the South End” as the three fled.

The victim, who was unable to communicate verbally with officers, gave paramedics a “thumbs up” when he was examined to indicate he was OK and did not require hospitalization, according to a Seattle police report. The report did not specify the man’s disability. Read more.

Burglar caught red-handed inside Mt. Baker business (SPD):

On March 3rd, just a few minutes past midnight, South Precinct officers responded to a burglary alarm call at a gas station in the 2800 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South. The alarm monitoring company reported to police that they could hear glass breaking and movement inside the business. Officers arrived quickly and observed a man inside the business moving around in the rear of the store.  He was carrying a large white bag. The front window of the business was broken, and a ladder was through the opening. Additional officers arrived and contained the building.

Officers called inside the building but the suspect refused to answer. An employee of the business arrived with keys, and officers entered the building. There they located the suspect, a 45-year old man, hiding in the crawlspace. He was taken into custody.  Officers searched the rest of the store for additional suspects, but it appears this man was the only burglar. The suspect had bagged approximately $1,000 worth of cigarettes and food inside his bag. He was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Burglary.

Two charged in alleged anti-gay attack (seattlepi.com):

Felony hate crime charges have been filed against two men accused in an alleged anti-gay attack outside a South Seattle community center.

At about 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 3, Seattle police were called to the Filipino Community Center in the 5700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South following a report of a fight. Arriving at the center, officers were told a man had been attacked during a community celebration there. Read more.

On December 31st, at approximately 1:50 am, a 25-year old man was waiting in the bus shelter at Rainier Avenue South and South Myrtle Street.  He was approached by three males who began  assaulting the man by hitting him in the head and face. His wallet containing cash was then taken by the suspects.  The victim was able to call 911.  One of the suspects was stopped by police at Rainier Avenue South and South Othello Street, where he was positively identified as being involved.  The other two suspects fled the scene.  Two possible suspects were stopped and detained by officers at Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street, but they could not be positively idenitifed as being involved.  They were interviewed and released at the scene.  The wallet was not recovered.  The 31-year old man arrested was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.

A 13 year-old boy was walking home for a Metro bus stop near 18th Ave S and S Hinds Street on December 9th when when two young men—about 16 or 17 years old, a police report says—walked up to him and asked to use his cell phone  phone. According to the report—which was released by police last week—the young boy handed the phone over to one of the other boys, who quickly made a call and hung up.  Suddenly, one of the other boys punched him in the face, cutting his lip and knocking a tooth loose. Mother & Baby Found Dead on Beacon Hill: At approximately 10:15 am officers responded to a residence in the 1300 Block of South Ferdinand Street.  The call stated that two people were deceased inside the house, an adult female and a 14 month-old infant.  Homicide and CSI detectives responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation.  This is an active and on-going investigation.  More information will be posted here when it becomes available.

Drive by Shooting in Othello: On December 21st, at approximately 8:25 pm, South Precinct officers responded to a house in the 6800  Block of Rainier Avenue South on a report of a  shot fired at the house.  Officers arrived and contacted the residents inside.  Two adults and five children were present inside when a single bullet entered through a window facing Rainier Avenue South.  No one was injured and the bullet was recovered by officers.  A brown Chevrolet Malibu or similar style vehicle occupied by a black male in his 20’s was seen driving away from the area, but it is unknown if that car or man was involved.

Teens Responsible for Strong-Armed Purse Snatch Robberies in Rainier Valley: Between November 19th and November 22nd, four strong armed ‘purse snatch’ robberies occurred in the Rainier Valley area.  Two teens were responsible for the robberies and were seen leaving in a white sedan.  Most of the victims were approached from behind and did not get good descriptions of the suspects.  A pattern worksheet and bulletin describing each incident had been distributed department-wide.

On November 25th, two teens were arrested in Rainier Valley for driving a stolen white Honda.  The Robbery Unit was contacted and the suspects were questioned by detectives.  Both denied involvement in the robberies and were booked into the Youth Service Center for Auto Theft.

Last week, detectives interviewed a victim who talked to one of the suspects before being robbed.  She viewed a photo montage and positively identified one of the suspects previously arrested in the stolen Honda.

On December 21st, Robbery detectives tracked the identified suspect to an address in Tukwila.  He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Robbery office for processing.  The suspect denied involvement in the series of robberies.  He was booked into the Youth Service Center for Investigation of Robbery.

Detectives continue their investigation in an effort to apprehend the second suspect.

On December 17th South Precinct officers responded to a call of a strong arm robbery aboard a Metro bus at Renton Avenue South and South Henderson.  At about 9:24 pm, an officer was flagged down by the Metro driver who stated that one of his passengers had just been beaten up and robbed.  The victim was aboard a Metro bus playing a video game on his i-phone.  He was sitting toward the front of the bus.

When the bus was preparing to stop at a busstop at Renton Ave. S. and South Henderson,  four suspects approached the front of the bus as if they were getting off.  As the suspects, described as three black males and a black female, passed the victim, one of the suspects grabbed the victim’s phone from out of his hands and tried to run away.  The victim tried to retain the phone in his grasp and he and the suspect struggled over it.  At that point, the other suspects began punching the victim in the face and head.  The victim had to let go of his phone in order to protect himself while the suspects continued to assault him.  The suspects got off the bus and ran northbound on Renton Avenue South.

As the officer was obtaining information from the victim and witnesses aboard the bus, another officer in the area located a possible suspect near 46th Avenue South and South Cloverdale Street.  The suspect fled from officers before they could contact him.  Officers quickly set up containment for a K-9 track.

An officer on containment in the 8400 Block of 47th Avenue South observed a car with four teenagers in it, matching the physical and clothing  description of the suspects.  The car was stopped and the occupants detained.  Four of the five juvenile suspects in the car were positively identified and arrested and booked into the Youth Services Center for Investigation of Robbery.

The i-phone was not recovered.  The victim suffered some minor scrapes and bruising to his face, but declined medical treatment.  Robbery Unit detectives will be responsible for the follow up investigation.

On December 6th at approximately 7:30 pm, an unknown male suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his backpack and cellphone near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Kenyon.  The suspect then fired one shot into the air as he was fleeing the scene.  The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Way.  The suspect is described as a black male, 5-08, medium complexion, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.  He was armed with a handgun.  South Precinct officers and a K9 responded to the scene but did not locate the suspect.

Seattle police are looking for a group of bicycle-riding teens believed to be involved in at least one robbery in the south end.

Police took a report from a woman late last month after she was nearly robbed while walking home along the Chief Sealth Trail.

According to a police report, the woman was dropped off by a friend at the 3000 block of South Graham Street “after dark” on November 30th. The woman told officers she saw five 15 to 16-year old teens and riding their bikes along Graham. Read more.
