traciprofilepicWinter weather makes it difficult to have good hair days, but here are some helpful tips to keep your hair strong, healthy, and shiny:

  • Schedule a trim every six to eight weeks.  Snipping away brittle split ends is an instant hair make-over!
  • Shampoo every other day with a moisture rich product and condition every time you shampoo.  Over shampooing strips the hair of natural oils which keep your hair and scalp healthy.  If you must shampoo daily use sulfate free shampoo.  These shampoos are less drying and irritating to the scalp.
  • Embrace your natural texture!  There’s nothing more damaging to the hair than heat styling, especially if you use more than one thermal activated tool.  If it is practical and time allows, let your hair air dry during the winter months.
  • Switch your gel-based products to products  that contain humectant. These products are beneficial because they attract moisture to the hair. If you must use a hair gel mix 1 part gel to one part moisture rich styling product.
  • Add highlights to brighten your hair and skin tone.  Consult with your stylist on the best shade for you. If you do it yourself choose a shade no more than two shades lighter than your base color for more natural looking results.
  • Brush using a paddle brush.  This will help move natural oils to the ends of the hair for added protection.
  • Use a gloss in your hair! It will add warmth and radiance to your mane.  For  longer lasting results ask your stylist to add a shine or gloss treatment  to your service. Results can last three to six weeks. A gloss or shine treatment not only adds shine it deep conditions the hair.

I love Salon Vibe.
My daughter and I discovered this place a couple of months ago, and have become big fans of Traci. Not only does she give a great hair cut, she educates my teen on how to care for her hair. I want to see businesses like this thrive in the community!
