Your RVP is proud to welcome our newest sponsor, All Saints Episcopal Church located at 5150 Cloverdale Place S. in Rainier Beach:
Near the intersection of Wabash and Cloverdale Place sit six large raised beds containing all kinds of vegetables booming along in the summer sun. If you’ve wondered who is growing all that the answer is All Saints Episcopal Church.
The congregation, which has served the Rainier Valley since 1905, is a site for a community garden. The church also houses a before and after school program called Empowering Youth and Families Ministries (Charlett Shoecraft, director) as well a local Share shelter.
All Saints is a small church that does big service to a community beyond its doors and its membership. This vibrant, multi-cultural congregation is committed to being a community that is an instrument for reconciliation, a haven for the hurting and a catalyst for social, political and economic justice.
In order to do that work this open and inclusive Episcopal parish works with other congregations, most notable Seattle International Christian Fellowship (Richard and Susan Thompson, pastors) with whom it shares its facilities and a food bank.
All Saints has recently welcomed a pair of new priests to its life: the Rev. Carla Robinson and the Rev. Richard Younge. Together these two African-American priests bring both experience and new energy to a place that already has a rich history of connecting Anglican spirituality with the Northwest urban experience.
“We are a church where tradition and creativity are meeting,” says Rev. Robinson. “Something new is being born here and we are excited to share it anyone and everyone. Come on down and check us out. You might be surprised. We’re here every Sunday at 10am.”
Don’t miss the congregation’s Annual Salmon Dinner and Silent Auction on Sat., Sept. 11, at 5:30 pm. Dinner features salmon caught by local fishers, outdoor dining, live music; $20/person. More info: 721-0285 or email allsaints@allsaints-seattle.org.
With more than 6,000 unique visitors (i.e. different computers) or more than 30% of the total Southeast Seattle population accessing the site each month, your RVP has quickly become the buzz of the valley and the best way to reach your target market in Seattle’s most diverse community.
