As predicted, a slew of dignitaries were on-hand today to help celebrate the groundbreaking of Rainier Vista Phase II at Tamarack Place – an 86-unit low-income apartment building in Columbia City.
In attendance were U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, U.S. Senator Patty Murray, U.S. Representative Jim McDermott, Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels and The Boys & Girls Club Drill Team.
“Representative McDermott met with local Democrats to discuss health care reform and hear the concerns of local voters,” said Rainier Valley neighbor Tom Karwaki who attended and was kind enough to share these photos. “He reminded everyone that when you see Rainier Vista, Tamarack Place and LINK — that each of those is an earmark.”
“Dow Constantine met with local voters to hear about affordable housing,” he added. “It was a great event.”
