The community is invited to join Seattle Police Department for National Night Out Against Crime 2011 on Tues., Aug. 2. Night Out is a national Crime Prevention event designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, increase neighborhood support in anti-crime efforts, and unite communities. Register here.
Host a block party in your neighborhood; City grants available: Neighborhoods can get financial support for their Night Out events through Seattle Department of Neighborhoods’ Small Sparks Fund. The fund provides awards of up to $1000 to support community building efforts. Funds could be used for publicity, entertainment, rentals of tables, canopies, etc., picnic supplies, and materials for children’s activities, to name a few. Go here to learn more and to apply.
