According to the Rainier Beach Community Block Watch – the organization that hosted last night’s meeting with Jim Diers – Mayor McGinn is planning a rare Rainier Valley visit on Thur., Sept. 30, to attend a public safety meeting at Rainier Beach Community Center (8825 Rainier Ave. S.).
The community center is located on the northwest corner of Rainier and Henderson, where there have been three shootings, two beatings and a stabbing in less than two weeks.

Monday Aug 30?
Sorry. Thanks, John. Thur., Sept. 30.
You’d think he’d want to put a little more urgency on this. A month+ away? I’d hate to be stuck in a situation where I was relying on him to call 911 on my behalf… I’d be dead before he’d start dialing.
I hope he books a big room. Now, will all of the folks who post here with their concerns please show up at this meeting?
I heard folks from the city were at last night’s meeting- Burgess and Bagshaw. At least we are getting some attention!
Expect to see Burgess & Bagshaw throw their hats into the mayoral ring in two years. Consider this campaign stop #1. Smart move for them to be there.
I was half joking when I asked if Sally Bagshaw would be fielding questions last night, I wasn’t there but how many questions directed at Burgess did Bagshaw answer? Last meeting I went to she seemed to be his mouthpiece.
I really hope someone is explaining the disastrous effect his silence is having on his chance for re-election. Nickels was the perfect example, he ignored and ignored until that moment came when he needed us. People don’t forget stuff like that and you can better believe people are going to always remember McGinn the mime.
@Paige
It’s not attention, it’s posturing.
Sally Bagshaw was not at last night’s meeting – her lead staffer Kathy Nyland was there.
I’ll be there.
@Tiffany and @Tasha – totally agreed.
FYI: The Mayor was in CC this past Saturday for the parade.
The mayor’s office has confirmed there will be a “forum” on the 30th of September. No word on time or place.
is he going to take the #7 bus there? Hah!
Let’s tell him what we need are bike lanes, farmers markets and art walks!
