Next up in the popular From Reel to Real live event series presented by Columbia City Cinema, is an evening with local author Garth Stein (Wed. April 20) who will be reading from his novel, The Art of Racing in the Rain and talking about life as a New York times best selling author.
A heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty, and hope, The Art of Racing in the Rain is a beautifully crafted and captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life… as only a dog could tell it.
Joining Garth will be the Cinema’s own Paul Doyle, reading from his novel Nioka, Bride of Bigfoot, one woman’s eco-adventure set in the Pacific NW rain forest.
Garth Stein is the author of three novels including How Evan Broke His Head and Other Secrets, winner of a 2006 PNBA Book Award, and Raven Stole the Moon. He lives in Seattle with his wife, three sons, and his dog, Comet.
Paul Doyle is the owner of Columbia City Cinema, one of the last remaining independent cinemas in Seattle. Paul previously owned Grand Illusion Cinema (Seattle), the Grand Cinema (Tacoma) and The Pickford (Bellingham).
Coming Up: May 18—A night of standup humor with legendary comedian John Keister.
All events are held at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center (3515 Alaska @ Rainier), a beautiful 250-seat venue right across the street from the Cinema. Doors open at 7:00pm, show start at 7:30pm.
