Teen charged in last week’s shooting (seattlecrime.com):

Prosecutors have charged 18-year-old Bronzell Jerome Bright with assault and unlawful possession of a firearm following an apparent gang-related shooting in [Rainier Beach] last week.

According to court records, witnesses at the scene of the March 16th shooting told police Bright and a woman pulled up at 51st Ave. and S. Fletcher St. in a Chrysler LeBaron around 4:15 pm. Bright got out of the driver’s side, and yelled “D-Dub, Five-Trey”—a reference to the Down Wit the Crew gang—at an 18-year-old man on the street.

Bright then allegedly pulled out a black handgun, shoved it in the victim’s face, and threatened to shoot him. Read more.

Two teens arrested in Monday afternoon drive-bye (SPD):

On March 21st, at approximately 4:50 PM, South Precinct officers responded to the 3800 Block of South Thistle to investigate a drive by shooting. The victim stated that he had left his house to walk to a friend’s house nearby. Along the way, he was confronted by the suspects. Words were exchanged and the suspects left in a car.

As the victim was returning to his house, he noticed that the same suspects had followed him home. The victim told officers that he was standing on his front porch while he and the suspects continued their heated argument. A witness observed one of the suspects pull a handgun from underneath the car seat. At that point, the victim went inside his house.

Moments later they heard two to three gunshots and the suspect’s car flee the area. Officers arrived quickly and located the suspect car several blocks away. The suspects, 16- and 18-year old males were postively identified and arrested.

Officers recovered several shell casings from the street in front of the victim’s house. Two bullets were also recovered from inside the home. There were no reported injuries.

Gang detectives responded to the scene and will conduct the follow up investigation. The 18-year old was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault and Drive By Shooting. The 16-year old was booked into the Youth Services Center for the same crime.
