I was sad to see the jade Buddha go, he really livened up the neighborhood for a while.

I’m glad to see the nice new neon sign that Hasegawa Family and Cosmetic Dentistry put up. It’s a classy design and a nice addition to our little stretch of neon in Columbia City. There is also a new hair stylist/barber on Ferdinand katycorner to Geraldines. Nice to see new/revived businesses in the area.

Someone hacked the Dick’s site and is changing the poll numbers.

I can not resist on commenting on the shooting of the homeless walking stick carver.

How long will the SPD have to put up with these cowboys. We made the international news again. How many screwups will it take for the Mayor to realize that the Acting Chief is no better as “The Chief”

Do not tell me to give him time. He has had almost 2 years. He simply is not up to the job, has not been, is not up to the job and will not be in the future. The culture of the command staff needs to change with the possible exception of Nick Metz.

The Chief said he was going to take some classes in communication, can he get some leadership classes while he is at it. Should be have a new chief while he is off taking these courses.

Mr. Mayor do you have to be shot, to get it. How many times must the SPD be featured in the international press to gain your attention. The rank and file SPD deserves better leadership now not a chief in training.

We had the King County Sheriff’s and the SPD riding bikes up and down Rainier all day long today. It’s nice that they are patrolling, but I am wondering if they are doing this also in the hours after dark? That is when they are needed the most.

angeldove The increased presence is at night as well. I don’t know if you saw but there are also many other extra resoruces besides just bikes assigned to the operation, including a Mobile Precinct in the Sars parking lot.

Downtown is listening: This redirection of effort from the focus on Belltown exclusively to the Henderson St corridor and surrounding area as well is due to the RVP Editor and readers. South Precinct officers are no longer detailed to the Belltown baby-sitting task force. You should all pat yourselves on the back.

See you at Rainier & Henderson! :-)

Hooray for us and many thanks to Downtown. I’ll be interested to see if all of this means a change in direction. Thank you for passing along some good news, South Seattle Cop.

Its a good start, SSC. Now we have to start getting proactive rather than reactive.

south seattle cop,

Thanks for the great news!!!

“You should all pat yourselves on the back.”

Great, I just pulled a muscle. J/K

Anyone know why they need 2 officers to watch them work at Rainier and Genesee?

13 angeldove 09.03.10 at 11:20 am

Thanks for the great info!

supposed t0 do traffic control?
Why tw0 0fficers? I have seen more SPD officers down here on Rainier and Austin/Holden today than I have ever seen before! This is great because most of this starts here before they go to Henderson. I think they all live down here?!

15 Kathy 09.03.10 at 9:24 pm

Thanks, too, to the RVP Editor. Since you’re probably not getting rich, Amber, I hope that this at least gives you a well-deserved sense of satisfaction.

16 Brian 09.04.10 at 10:55 am

Definitely nice to see more of a police presence on Rainier!

17 South Seattle Cop 09.05.10 at 3:13 pm

Mark B Those officers are being hired by the construciton company to be there handing traffic while the work goes on. They are off-duty, and not on city time. Most construction companies doing road work or work in congested areas (like downtown) are required by their insurance companies to employ off-duty officers to handle traffic control around the worksite.

18 Mark B 09.06.10 at 11:01 am

@SSC
Thanks I didn’t think they were on our dime but was wondering why it took 2 when the traffic is going one direction. I just wish they would finish fu*king up the streets and get it done with already.
