As if these poor people aren’t traumatized enough after their first month as new parents… Last night Nicole Duc was sitting in her Rainier Beach living room holding her newborn when a ’98 Ford Taurus came crashing through the wall.
Amazingly enough, no one was injured.
Husband Jerry was a few steps away in the kitchen when he heard a loud boom and thought it might be an earthquake. He was stunned to find a car in his house.
Numerous Seattle Fire Department (SFD) and Seattle Police Department (SPD) units responded to several 911 calls shortly before 8 pm in the quiet cul-de-sac tucked away behind Kubota Gardens Park – the last place one would expect something like this to happen.
“We thought someone was trying to kill us,” Jerry said as the driver repeatedly tried to back the vehicle out of the living room.
He said the young man seemed high or otherwise intoxicated, but “sobered up real quick” when confronted and took off running towards 51st Avenue South. Jerry gave chase, but lost him around 51st and Renton.
SPD contained the area and unsuccessfully tracked the assailant with K9. As of last night, the suspect — who turns 23 on Thursday — remained at large, but Jerry said police found all sorts of identifying information in the car, including a diploma, so it shouldn’t be long, provided there’s an officer or two available in the South Precinct to make an arrest…

Rainier Valley is CRAZY. It sure does grow on you, though.
