Found Dog: Earlier this week we came across a lost dog. He is VERY skittish, but seems super sweet. We tried to take him in – but he wanted out the second we brought him in and he wouldn’t accept food or water. He looks like a blue-healer/lab mix almost. When we let him go, he made a bee-line heading south down 39th Ave S – away from the park, so we thought he knew just where he was going. When we woke up this morning he was sleeping on our front porch. Attached is a picture of him. No collar. Do you know who this dog belongs to? He is beautiful, but seems really stressed out. We have called him in to the city and they say they’ll send someone out when they can. I think he just wants to go home. Contact Barb Patejdl.

Job Announcement: Guila Muir has a job opening for a smart, communicative techie wanted on an hourly basis to help a local small business with Web 2.0 Tasks. Successful applicant will be technically savvy and able to teach a non-technical person some basic skills without condescension. S/he should also possess knowledge about, and interest in, using the Web to market a service. Maximum 10 hours to start. Email Guila to request full list of desired tasks. Put “Web 2.0 Job” in subject line.

Okay I just can’t help myself…

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away…

I was in HR.

And I realize this is more of a craigslist style vs. a carefully monitored/censored/gatekeeper newspaper style of classified section therefore I address the ad placers vs. the publication:

You should, at least try, to create the appearance of not discriminating against any protected class of individuals.

Therefore, in the country of America/state of WA/city of Seattle that would include discrimination based on:

Gender, Race, Creed, Religion, National Origin, Sexual Orientation, Disability, Veteran Status, Marital or Familial Status (esp. in regards to housing) and yes….AGE. Those over 40 enjoy protected class status, thus any reference to a preference for “young” applicants is dicey stuff indeed.

Roll at your own risk people.

I want to know what kind of barley was used on the couch. lol (Proof-readers’ humor)

But seriously, I am a natural proof-reader and a very open-minded friendly editor. I need to put my classified ad in the RVP again. I work for $10 hour, and the first hour is free in case you don’t want to continue.

Of all my emails, the RVP is the one I read first–It (she) often provides information that I want to know. Great work, Editor.

Another good catch. Thanks, Catharine! Your RVP always welcomes volunteer proofreaders. Also happy to post your ad when you’re ready. :-)
