A minivan collided with a Sound Transit light rail train in South Seattle, but no one was seriously hurt in the Saturday afternoon accident, officials and witnesses said.
Police said a 37-year-old woman was at the wheel of the minivan when it crashed into the southbound train at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way and South Kenyon Street. Read more.

Yet another person trying to make an illegal left turn… Patience, people, those lights will change (unless you’ve pulled too far forward into the crosswalk to trigger the sensor).
At least one light rail accident was called an “illegal left turn” when in fact it was due to a synchronization problem with the train and turning signals (the driver had a green left arrow).
What the drivers in the Rainier Valley need to know is even in the above case the blame falls on the driver of the car. The train always has the right-of-way no matter what the traffic signal tells you to do. So PLEASE look down the track in BOTH directions before you make that left turn. Do not trust the lights to be accurate.
