NEW HOLLY – Police say a man was injured early Sunday morning when he was shot with birdshot from a shotgun.

According to Seattle Police Department spokesman Mark Jamieson, it was just after 3 a.m. when South Precinct officers responded to a report of shots fired and someone screaming near South Holly Place and Holly Park Drive South.

Shortly thereafter, the victim called 911 to request assistance at another address. He had several non life threatening injuries to his back, back of his arms and legs, but refused to provide any information to officers regarding the incident.

Officers located the scene of the shooting and recovered a spent shotgun shell. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

It was the second time this month that a Rainier Valley shooting victim refused to cooperate with police.

It was just before 8 pm on February 9th, when South Precinct officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Raymond Street.

“An anonymous caller later stated that someone had been shot in the chest, yet someone else stated that no one had been shot, and that everything was alright,” wrote Jamieson.

He said that officers spent an hour searching the area to no avail.

Two hours later, an 18-year old male arrived at Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his collarbone area.

“The victim did not want to cooperate with investigators, but officers did determine through their investigation that the victim sustained his injury during the initial call at 7:50 pm,” wrote Jamieson.

“Officers returned to the area of 36th Avenue South and South Raymond Street and located a crime scene,” he added. “It appears that a fight occurred at that location before the shots were fired. Detectives are now handling the follow up investigation.”

Wonder if the guy shot with the shotgun was trying to break-in to someone’s house? I heard the gunshot, it was quite loud!

Just another reason as to why I am looking forward to moving away from this area forever. 19 days and counting!

Lucky you Seadawg! I wish you luck in your future digs. I just don’t get it, we got rid of the Amazon Rest. and now someone else has proceeded to start playing music after 11:00. Why?????????? I am really starting to get grouchy!!! And the problem is that I can’t figure out where the music is coming from!!! Sigh…..

Anyone who wishes to leave this neighborhood I say good riddance. Yes we are having some issues, but tired of hearing the moaners.

Just a touch over the edge of RVP territory at the I90 junction – the jungle area I believe. Hope no one was hurt biking on the trail.

Looks like he ran into RVP territory and was apprehended by the SPD – with help from WSP.

@Tasha 3.0
What’s up girl you sound a little hard edged today?

No I’m good. We have a great community that needs a little polishing sometimes. Just wish people could see that sometimes.

Sheesh angeldove, you must be forgetting that what you are criticizing is Seattle’s highly touted “vibrant nightlife scene.” It is supposed to be a selling ticket to get people to move to Seattle, not an incentive to flee the city with their ears plugs. ;)

@Brian: Not. I am a hard working woman and I should not have to listen to music in the valley from one of my inconsiderate neighbors. This is not a business that is playing the music at night. Vibrant nightlife should not keep me awake from 11:00 at night until I go to work at 8:00 am. Don’t snark me….also I am one of those who would prefer that people don’t move to Seattle. Phooey! I got one hour of sleep last night!
