LR Opening Day Update #5: Sidewalk Sales, Summer Picnics & More

There are a few more events happening this Sat., July 18 – Light Rail Opening Day – that we haven’t mentioned yet:

  • highlightR-ValleyCommunity Spirit Summer Picnic: Everyone is welcome to attend the Community Spirit Summer Picnic at Rainier Community Center (4600 38th Ave. S.) from 11am to 4pm, where guests will enjoy free food, music and entertainment. Just three blocks from the Columbia City Station! Contact Randy Wiger for more info.
  • Light Rail Sidewalk Sale: The Columbia City Gallery will be participating the neighborhood’s Light Rail Sale to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Light Rail.  The gallery will be holding a Sidewalk Sale and passing out lemonade to all thirsty art lovers all weekend.
  • Opening Day of the Cheap Chickadee Thrift Shop: From 10am-3:30pm at 4645 S. Holly St. with music from the Larry Jones Trio at 2pm. Bargains galore!
  • Open House: The Rainier Valley Historical Society will hold open office hours from 10 until 2 in celebration of the historic opening of Light Rail. Stop by our office at 3710 S. Ferdinand to pick up a Columbia City Historic Walking Tour brochure and other information.
