The community is invited to join FirstThursday Seattle on Thur., April 7, at 7 pm, for a town hall meeting with King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg (right) at the Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club (4520 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, S.).
From organizer W. Larry Williams:
Mr. Satterberg has agreed to address our members and friends during our monthly meeting in April on all relevant topics including the “wood carver”, John T. Williams decision. And while he will not go into details for legal reasons, he will answer questions about the Seattle School scandal and other questions that you may have regarding the county’s legal system.
This a FREE event and is open to the public. However, we encourage early reservations since this is the first appearance for Mr. Satterberg at FirstThursday Seattle since he decided not to prosecute Officer Birk in the death of John T. Williams.
RSVP to info@firstthursdayseattle, www.firstthursdayseattle.org, facebook.com/events/firstthursdayseattleempower or (206) 280-9941.

It’d be nice if Dan talked about the crime issues in the valley when he visits instead of issues happening elsewhere in Seattle. Granted the SPS scandal impacts us.
… And Dan can do what? I am sorry, talking about issues he has little control over. Maybe I am ignorant about Dan’s influence; please help educate me.
He can decide whether to prosecute or not. Pretty big deal.
Tom is correct.
Among other things Satterberg establishes the filing guidelines for the KC Prosecutor’s Office. He can makes things de-facto legal by deciding not to prosecute them if he likes, and he can change statute felonies into real life misdemeanors by deciding on his own standards of prosecuting separate from the laws passed by the legislature.
He can direct certain criminal cases always be offered a plea deal from the outset, or direct that certain types of cases NEVER get negotiated.
Like him or not, his position is very influential, and his decisions affect everyone in King County, whether you live in a city or the unincorporated county.
Hope “the” King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg is well-prepared entering a hornets nest.
Emotions are still raw from the wood carvers death and curious why he could even discuss the SPS scandal while they are still gathering evidence against the bunch of fools that were involved in contractor fraud and stealing taxpayer money for personal use.
He kind of looks like a balding Neil Patrick Harris.
Maybe he can comment on the Sen Adam Kline’s new plan to let convicted felons out 6 months early. Oh, and Sen Kline believes that crime rates will go up as a consequence but level out after a year or so. Uuughh… the voters of the 37th should look in the mirror and see that they are indeed part of the problem.
Will Satterberg address the incident at Rainier Beach HS or the $2mil
scandal?
MQ
Kline is part of the problem – letting criminals out early. Did he not learn from the Maurice Clemmons?
Sen. Kline’s argument for releasing felons early is insane. Public safety is top priority for voters. The state’s sentencing guidelines would have to be changed. I don’t think the legislature has that authority.
Kline wants to hand out “Get out of Jail Free” cards to these felons. What flavor of Kool-Aid is he drinking? Not voting for him next time around.
I speak with Mr. Satterberg regularly. While I do not agree with him on many subjects, he has always been willing to attend FirstThursday Seattle meeting and answer all questions posed to him. I know that many of you disagree with his handling of woodcarver John T. Williams (and for the record, so do I), but we as a community need to move on and allow the Williams’ family attorneys deal with Mr. Satterberg. There are many other things on the agenda for the prosecutor to address that will affect inner-city and communities of color including the Seattle School controversy, legalization of pot, driver’s licensing for immigrants are just a few of the issues that Mr. Satterberg has authority over.
I look forward to seeing many of you at FirstThursday Seattle, April 7, 7PM at rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club, 4520 M. L. King Jr. Way S. If you have questions or would like to RSVP, go to info@firstthursdayseattle.org, http://www.firstthursdayseattle.org or call W. larry Williams at (206) 280-9941.
