fulltiltColumbia City neighbor and Full Tilt Ice Cream co-owner Ken Anderson wins the Best Timing of the Year Award for getting his awesome new shop open just in time for this crazy heat wave.

Current flavors – made right over in White Center – include Birthday cake, Ube (yam), Horchata, Rocky Road, Mint Chocolate Chip, Coconut, Raspberry Vanilla (vegan) and Oreo.

Yes, they even have old-school video games. And beer!

“I love this place because they make it great for both kids and adults,” said Columbia City neighbor Connie Cox, who suggests bringing the kids to enjoy games and ice cream while the adults have some beer.

That’s what we’re saying!

I haven’t seen a pinball machine in a while. Good for the hand eye coordination while drinking beer.

SO EXCITED. Great concept with the beer and video games, and to throw really good ice cream into the mix?? I’m just going to go buy pants in a larger size right now.

Checked them out on Sunday. One word – awesome. Great ice cream flavors, super friendly folks. Check out the Ube — it’s a yam flavored ice cream, and it’s GOOD. Purple, rich, buttery, and nothing like you’re probably picturing. My other half had one scoop walnut, one scoop coffee. Both were great; smooth and very flavorful. A single order comes with two scoops, so you can mix and match.

I’m so going back for beer, video games (Star Wars), and, um, more ice cream.

What a difference one store – and a sweltering day – makes. I followed a steady crowd streaming South from downtown Columbia City down Rainier toward Full Tilt. It was 9:30pm on a Monday! I had split cone: a scoop of Horchata topped by a scoop of Mexican Chocolate – the same flavors I tasted on my very first visit to the original Full Tilt in White Center. Delicious.

Cool your heels on the bench right outside. Play Centipede or a game of pinball. Pen-and-paper roleplayers, the 2 brothers who run the joint are gamers who play D&D 3.5 and sell polyhedral dice at the counter(!). Don’t miss this!

I have not played D&D since I was 10 -11?

I may have to stop by Full Tilt and do my own “investigative journalism.” ;) Duty calls!

I second the kudos to the Ube—smooth, rich flavor, not too sweet, lovely color! Plan on going their again today. Might need to walk there to keep from needing those bigger pants.

Just stopped by Full Tilt for some much-needed refreshment, but they’re closed! A sign on the door says it’s “due to melting” and that they’ll be opening at 5pm. There were a couple workmen there doing something electrical so maybe they had a cooling failure, or maybe it’s just a cute sign. We went over to Tutta Bella for gelato instead.

Closed due to melting? Does the wicked witch of the west work there?

I don’t think they had air conditioning. How hot is your house? I imagine those open-face ice cream coolers couldn’t cope with this heat. Maybe they’re installing AC now.

It’s 70 and feeling nice (with AC)

I’m keeping mine at 68, just because I can.
