Columbia Library Closed Due to Extreme Heat; Three South-End Locations With AC Open Until 8pm

The Columbia City library closed at 1 p.m. today when temperatures inside the building reached 90 degrees.

The Columbia branch is a historic Carnegie building that does not have air conditioning, but three other south-end libraries do and are open until 8pm tonight:

  • Beacon Hill Branch 2821 Beacon Ave. S., 206-684-4711. Open: Thu: 10 am – 8 pm; Fri: 10 am – 6 pm; Sat: 10 am – 6 pm; Sun: Noon – 5 pm
  • NewHolly Branch, 7058 32nd Ave. S., 206-386-1905. Open: Thu: 10 am – 8 pm; Fri: 10 am – 6 pm; Sat: 10 am – 6 pm; Sun: Closed
  • Rainier Beach Branch, 9125 Rainier Ave. S., 206-386-1906. Open: Thu: 10 am – 8 pm; Fri: 10 am – 6 pm; Sat: 10 am – 6 pm; Sun: Noon – 5 pm
