RAINIER BEACH – A man was arrested Sunday after police say he robbed a woman at gunpoint in the 8100 block of Rainier Avenue South.
The woman left a South Rainier restaurant shortly after 8 pm and was confronted by the suspect who demanded her purse. When she refused, he pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her, said SPD spokesman Mark Jamieson in a blog post.
“At that point, the woman handed over her purse and the suspect fled on foot,” said Jamieson.
Apparently, when other patrons in the restaurant learned of the robbery, they followed the suspect while calling 911. South Precinct officers responded and the investigation began. Shortly thereafter, the suspect emerged, said Jamieson.
The victim was able to positively identify the suspect, and her purse was located. Officers also found a black handgun, which turned out to be a toy gun, in the area.
The suspect was booked into jail for Investigation of Robbery.

What a dumbass!, going to jail for armed robbery for a toy gun.
He is lucky he wasn’t shot.
What restaurant are they referring to in the south end?
One down, fifty to go. I also wonder of the suspect would have been caught if the citizens hadn’t gotten involved?
Probably not.
Imagine when the welfare and other “support” runs out. There is going to be a lot more of this kind of thing. It will only get worse, not better.
